With a deep understanding of consumer products, health
trends, how consumers work, marketing, price points, promotions and product
development, Alicia Bolls' boasts her commitment to clientele in a boutique
style food broker business by delivering a high level of quality and service to
those companies. This strategic model transitioned over to promote her 2025
Riata stallion, Nothing But Blu by Once In A Blu Boon and out of CC Cat.
"Nothing But Blu's dam, CC Cat was my first cutting horse,"
Alicia said. "She was successful in the cutting pen. I was determined to breed her.
I researched studs and was drawn to Once In A Blu Boon. It's funny, but I
traded airline miles for his semen! Everything was so easy. The mare took on the
first try. When he was born, everyone was gaga over him. He's always been a
special horse."
Blu was started by Matheus Victor, who rode colts for million-dollar
NRHA reining horse trainer, Fernando Salgado.
Matheus rode him for 5 weeks and the day Alicia arrived to pick up Blu,
Matheus wasn't on him, but Fernando was sitting on the two-year-old. That was a
sign of things to come. He wanted to make him a reiner, but Alicia was
determined to try him in the cutting pen.
Alicia found cutting and reined cowhorse trainer, Cayley
Wilson, through a friend and put him in Cayley's training program. In less than a year of training, Blu was sent
to his first pre-futurity show. In his
limited career, Nothing But Blu has made an impact in the National Reined Cow
Horse Association, with earnings thus far that exceed $150,000 and honors that include
2022 Snaffle Bit Futurity Open 3rd Place, Reserve Champion Intermediate Open,
2022 NRCHA Eastern Open Pre Futurity Co-Res Champion, and 2023 APHA World 4/5-Year-Old
Open Working Cow Horse Challenge Champion.
"We know the impact team roping is going to have in the
horse business moving forward, and we don't want to get left out. Blu has done amazing things for my family.
He's given us something to share and brought us all closer together. We all decided
to make the investment in Riata and continue the journey."
