Kolt Watson Rides
to Victory in 2025 USTRC Finals Riata Side Pot
Fort Worth, TX —

The wrap up on the
2025 USTRC Finals came out last week and the roping jumped up to over 6500
teams competing. It is always one of the top ropings in the world in team
counts. That big size made the insurance policy odds on the 32 Riata horses
look pretty good. Ten out of the 32 roped all four of their steers. The winners
bagged a total of $84,885 plus the $10,000 for a total of $94,885 that we will
be reporting in earnings.
Kolt Watson claimed first place and a check for $4,000
on Texas Black Cat, a stud sired by Bet Hesa Cat. In total Kolt
took home $31,300, placing 3rd and 8th in the 10.5 Shootout and finished 9th in the 11.5 Shootout.
Kaleb Asay finished second for $3,000, taking
home $26,675 with JKC Answers Ruby, a mare by Bet Hesa
Freckledcat. JKC Ruby and Asay got their win the hard way by consistently
piecing together checks for 17th in the 12.5 Shootout, 8th in the 10.5 WS Qualifier and 1st in the 11.5 WS Qualifier.
Sterlin English secured third place in the side
pot taking home $11,370 on Shiny Lil Peso, out of Shiners
Suduko, a horse he had just recently added to his program. English placed first
in the 13.5 but was not riding his Riata%u2026
Kase Key rounded out the top four, earning $7,190
for 8th in the 15.5 Shootout and 4th in the 9.5 Truck Roping. Kase
was on his mare, Mc Rey N Nick out of Reynshine.
With the
conclusion of the USTRC Finals, total earnings on Riata horses from side
pots in 2025 have now reached roughly $650,000. We are on a good track here
to easily hit our extra million in earnings for this year, but we have a long
way to go and have high hopes for much more. Thanks to all that stepped up
here.
Next
up, Riata competitors can look forward to two major opportunities in May: the WSTR
Heartland Roping in Hamilton, Texas, and the WSTR Priefert Qualifier,
both featuring Riata Side Pots with $10,000 guaranteed payouts.
