Easy Money Side Pot at Pocatello
Jul 11, 2025
It was another
outstanding little Riata Side Pot at Pocatello. Fourteen Riata horses entered
the WSTR Pocatello Qualifier for $10,000! That's $6,800 in added money, and
just like always, we paid four deep. That is a check for every three teams. Total
Riata horse earnings at the event hit $19,000—we were happy to get 14 of you
qualified to enter the $100,000 incentive in Guthrie.
Rick Steed was
happy, he won $2,780 after placing fourth in the #10.5, then won $4,000
for his 14-team jackpot winning more than he did in the roping. That was $6,780
for the weekend. He was riding Twoeyedtravelena by Travs Little Sug.
Second place went
to Joe Burk Higgins, and if you've been following these results, that
name should sound familiar. Joe Burk has entered every single Riata side pot
this year and cashed in multiple times. In Pocatello, he kept the streak alive,
worked pretty hard earning $1,300 for 5th in the #12.5 and another $910
for 7th in the #11.5, totaling $2,210. Same deal as Rick, won $3,000
Riata check which was more than the other two combined. He was on Im A Lady
Every Time, a mare by One Time Pepto,
Ken Winn claimed third, banking $1,843
for a 6th-place finish in the #9.5, plus a $2,000 Riata check. He was aboard Hashtag
Ima Playboy, a 4-year old stud by Hashtags.
Rounding it out
was TJ Bowler, who won $1,730 after placing 4th in the #12.5, and
another $1,000 Riata check. He rode Hollywood Wizard by Metallic
Wizard.
Next up? Here
comes the biggest one of the year.
We're
rolling into Cheyenne, Wyoming for The Daddy, July 16–21, with a
whopping $20,000 added to the Riata Side Pot. If you've got a Riata
horse in your barn, this is the one!!!
