Riata Side Pot Results from Kimes Oklahoma’s Richest Breakaway
Oct 29, 2025
Oklahoma's Richest Breakaway roping brought out some of
the toughest cowgirls and standout equine athletes in the game — and the Riata
Stallion Incentive Side Pot made the winnings even sweeter. Eighteen
breakaway ropers entered the Riata Side Pot, all vying for their share of
the added money and a qualification spot toward the Kimes Million Dollar
Breakaway.
Beau Peterson claimed the top Riata spot, riding TLC Dulce
Kat, a 7-year-old gelding by Kit Kat Sugar. Peterson finished 8th in
Round 3, earning $1,576 in the main event, then added a $6,000 Riata Side
Pot check to her total — proving once again that it Pays To Ride a Riata.
Taking second was Landry Haugen aboard Savvy
This, a mare by Metallic Cat. Haugen picked up a $497 aggregate
check and an additional $217 from the WRWC Open SP, along with a $4,000
Riata check for her mare's performance.
Since both Peterson and Haugen had already secured
qualification spots, the qualification berth for the Kimes Million Dollar
Breakaway rolled to the fastest non-check winner. That honor went to Kayelen
Helton, who turned in a solid 8.92 on three calves riding Cat Man
San, a stallion by Cat Man Do. The stallion has gained a big
reputation for his versatility, winning over $100,000 in 2023 heading and heeling
and now moving to the big stage in the breakaway.
The
collaboration between Kimes and the Riata Stallion Incentive will offer another
$10,000 in Riata bonus money at the Kimes Ranch Last
Chance Qualifier, November 24–25, 2025, WestWorld of Scottsdale, Arizona. Riata
Side Pot entries are now open for more money and another Exclusive Qualification
spot.
