Riata’s NEW Breakaway Plan!

The problem for Breakaway is pretty universally known. There just has to be a way to spread the wealth in breakaway than a simple open rodeo format. With that thought in mind we focused heavily on the complaints we had heard about our D approach to breakaway and then tried to find something that would do the following:
- Define a real difference for payoff between the top ropers and a subgroup.
- Avoid chopping up payouts, make payouts larger.
- Promote consistency with less pressure for super-fast runs, thus less pressure on futurity horses.
- Give more entry leverage to those that might need it.
- Promote young horses with their own pot, but at the same time give them the opportunity to double dip.
Whether it this turns out to be a good solution or not, we do feel like we are moving in the right direction. Most certainly the short rounds will give us a level of excitement that we have not had before. We feel this format gives us a better chance for success and hope ropers agree.
