BREAKING NEWS: RIATA BUCKLE #14.5 FORMAT

Yesterday, August 22, the Riata Buckle made the decision to alter the 2023 format to address concerns ropers were expressing over the #14.5 incentive. As a result, we are separating the #14.5 division into a roping of its own.
For several weeks we have fielded concerns over #14.5 not having an "ALL-AGE" opportunity. They also expressed concerns about having NO futurity opportunity other than 4-year-olds within the open roping. To a lesser degree, we heard grumbling about roping behind a standard barrier instead of the WSTR barrier they face each weekend.
Obviously, this does not impact the Pro Futurity. Yesterday we offered this solution for discussion with several ropers planning on entering the #14.5 incentive and received strong support. We added the #14.5 entry forms overnight, adjusted the roping schedule, and added money for a separate stallion incentive in the #14.5. We currently have $100,000 guaranteed for the #14.5. If this division gets strong support, we will consider adding more money.
We have received no entries that contain a #14.5 incentive at this time. If this decision changes your plans on the Pro Futurity in a negative way, we offer our sincere apology. However, we do think this decision will serve ropers at the class much better.
