The Texas team of Jacob Lewis on Hez Got Cowboy Cash and Waylon Davis on Reydium Cat won the Riata Buckle #10.5 with a 35.68 seconds on four head, worth $94,160, Nov. 4, 2023 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

The Myers Ranch-bred head horse Hez Got Cowboy Cash is by Cowboys Cartel out of Guys Cash For Perks by Frenchmans Guy.

The heel horse, a stallion named Reydium Cat, is by Metallic Cat out of Reynanza by Dual Rey.

"The Dual Rey-Metallic Cat cross is supposed to be a magical cross," Davis said. "He come from a guy in Utah, and the Guitar Ranch in Abilene owns his mother. So when we saw this horse up here last year, we tracked him down. We went to Utah and bought him, and his first colts will be on the ground next spring."

Both cowboys work on ranches for a living, and even though they don't make it to town to team rope all too often, getting the cow captured came natural to them.

"I've been to the Riata Buckle last year, and then I had to rebuy my membership because this is the only roping I go to," Lewis said.

"We didn't even talk before the short round," Davis said. "I knew what he was going to do, he doesn't hold back. And I wasn't going to either. I seen the first shot I could get him, and we were eighth callback. And we wanted to put some heat on them. That's what happens when people are hungry, you go at them."
