The Cowan
Ranch is in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Owners Bill and Michelle Cowan are known for
raising, training, and showing superior performance horses for the past 20 plus
years. The Cowan's program includes the great and very versatile Catty Hawk by
the all-time leading cutting horse sire, High Brow Cat x Scarlet Dance x Peppy
San Badger.
"Catty Hawk
unexpectedly came into our lives, we weren't even looking for a stud," says
Michelle. "Bill and I were at Sean Flynn's watching him work 3-year-olds. He
worked Catty Hawk and we fell in love with him, so we bought him."
Each one of
Catty Hawk's foal crops has produced champions. Catty Hawk's solid foundation results in exceptional performers and with progeny earnings over $3.3 million
in cutting, reined cow horse, roping, ranch work and barrel racing.
"2023 was
the first year to have Catty Hawk in the Riata Buckle stallion incentive
program. We are seeing the incredible payouts in team roping. Joseph Harrison told us about the program. One of his good horses is
Undocumented by Catty Hawk. Coy Rahlmann won money in the Pro Futurity at the 2023 Riata Buckle Championships on Sweeet But Psycho by Catty Rey. And our daughter, Makenzie ropes. Her main horse,
Seven S Blackjack by Catty Hawk x Seven S Cattle Kate came off the Stuart
Ranch. Terry Forst (from Stuart Ranch) breeds to Catty Hawk. "
In fact,
Makenzie won the first roping she'd ever entered on Seven S Blackjack, the 2022
Non-Pro title at the American Rope Horse Futurity in Fort Worth, Texas.
Catty Hawk
is a 2005 AQHA/APHA Double Registered stallion with LTE $240,297. Catty Hawk
has been racking up champion titles and earnings since his 3-year-old year in
2008 and has been a %ADfinalist at almost every aged event he's shown at. Catty
Hawk was awarded the Leading Freshman AQHA Sire of 2014.
