About Those New Stallions!

The 2024 Riata stallion list has been updated and there were
approximately 42 changes from the 2023 list. Roughly half the changes were made
by owners, ranches, and breeding operations switching to different stallions
that naturally fit team roping better than the stallions they had. Of the remaining
new additions, roughly half of those were spots that were sold or purchased at
the end of the year, and a handful of additional stallions were added. Riata
promised stallion owners that the stallion list would never exceed 200, and at
least during the first two seasons the count is floating around 175 to 180
stallions.
From a percentage standpoint, the changes within the line-up
this year are very similar to what occurred between 2022 and 2023. One thing is
certain the program is starting to take shape and interest remains high. We
will have the 2024 plan in place and announced before the end of January!
A CAT WITH SWAGGER - NCHA Hall of Fame, standing at Elwood
Equine.
BET HE SPARKS - Long list of accomplishments including
placing in the Run for a Million and World's Greatest Horseman. The Phillips
horse stands at Oswood.
BET HESA FRECKLED CAT – a popular
stallion bred around the Stephenville area, when he is not being roped on by
John Coltharp, or flagged on at the WSTR Finale.
BIG MACS MIRACLE - Hutchins young Mia Browbeater
stallion, winner of the 2023 HP Ranch Horse Invitational.
CAT PROOF - This is Chris Bethunes' stallion that
was a NCHA Futurity finalist in 2010, standing at Zerlotti Genetics.
CATOLENA CASHIN IN - The 2021 NCHA Super Stakes Open Derby
Champion, standing at Brazos Valley Stallion station.
CD DIAMOND - San Juan Ranch's 2012 NRCHA Snaffle
Bit Futurity Open Champion, stands at Weatherford Equine.
COWBOYS CARTEL - Had winners at the 2023 Riata Buckle,
was temporarily out of the program during a purchase transfer from Myers
Performance to Kiehne Ranches.
CR GOTCHA COVERED - A long list of accomplishment including
2019 NCHA Open World Champion, he stands at Brazos Valley.
DD FROSTY COWBOY - This is a young Double Dollar stallion
has money earned at Riata and is a replacement for an older stallion.
DD I BE TUFF - Another of the young Double Dollar
replacement stallions, with roping credentials.
DOC SEAS WHISKEY - Replacing Sixes Pick, Doc Seas Whiskey is the 2019 AQHA Reserve World Champion Junior Ranch Riding Horse. He stands at the 6666 Ranch.
DUAL R SMOKIN - The Skillet Fork Performance Horses cutting
stallion is a million-dollar earner, standing at Weatherford Equine Breeding Center.
EXAGEREYT - A Young rope horse stallion from the
Billadeau Quarter Horses.
FIDDLE AND STEEL - This Wagon Hound Land and Livestock
stallion has credits like NCHA Non-Pro Horse of the year, he stands at 6666.
FRENCH EMPIRE - A young stallion with barrel credentials
(Pink and Ruby), stands at Red River Equine.
FRENCHMANZ LEGEND - The McNulty stallion with lots of
barrel credentials and starting to acquire some roping performance. Standing at
Roche Equine.
GENUINELY BUSY - This is a Weaver Quarter Horses
stallion with progeny winning in every level of roping, not to mention NCHA,
NRHA, and NRCHA.
IRISH BLU - One of the three Cowen Select
Stallions, starting to get a lot of interest in the ranch horse world.
ISAAC STARLIGHT - West coast stallion becoming really
popular in team roping circles, standing at 808 Ranch Equine Services.
MC STERLING SIX - Shawn McCallister's stallion is drawing
interest in barrel racing and roping also. He stands at Rancho Calina.
METALLIC CASANOVA - Outstanding 2018 stallion replacing
one of the older Pitzer stallions. He has points in everything earning over
$200,000.
METALLIC WIZARD - 2020 NRCHA Stake Open Hackamore Champ,
stands at Outback Stallion Station.
MISTER BAR NIGHT - This is Logan Weeks' stallion and has
earned $175,000 heading and heeling.
NO MANS WHIZKEY - Since Whizkey N Diamonds pulled out of
the Riata Buckle and headed for Brazil, this 2022 Run For A Million Qualifier
is going to carry on the family name. Stands at Oklahoma Equine Hospital.
NZ SCOTCH TIME - This young stallion is picking up earnings
from NRCHA, heading, heeling, and barrels. Standing with The Roaming Vet.
PLAYEN SPADES - Another active rope horse from Colthorp's.
They pride themselves in showing their stallions in competition on a weekly
basis.
QUAILS DUN REMEDY - Featured in Quarter Horse News, this
one started as a rope horse and Bo Crutchfield was winning money on him roping
and ranch versatility, before he was switched to reined cow horse. This Bethune
stallion is standing at Peak Performance Equine.
REYNSHINE - This horse had plenty of cutting credentials
in 2008 and Jeremy Michaelis has him standing at Diamond MC Performance Horses.
REYS OF PEP - The winningest stallion in the history
of rope horse futurities in 2024. This is Jake Coopers' stallion, and he stands
at 113 Equine.
SADDLING AT SUNRISE - Burnett Ranches is really proud of
this one, and he has a long list of credentials including 2021 NRCHA Stakes
Open Reserve Champion. He stands at 6666.
SCOOTER KAT - Another Hall of Fame horse, the
highest earning reined cow horse of all time. Stands at Santa Lucia Farm.
SEVENS STAR GLO - The only two-time American Rope Horse
Futurity Association Heeling champion. Marshall Weir put him in the Riata
Buckle line up with CSR Dual Glo. He stands at Brazos Valley Stallion Station.
SMART BOONS - The latest addition from the St. Clair
stallions, he has a long list of credits including his earnings of $192,000 and
produce earnings of $968K. He stands at The Ranch Equine.
SR INDUSTRY TITAN - Big name in PRCA barrel racing, 70
Ranch is proud of this addition and knows this horse crosses over well.
SS GOLDIEROCKS - Goldie Rocks seen often at roping
horse futurities and equally at barrel racing. The Schley's were just waiting
to get a few more colts on the ground before jumping in. Stands at 113 Equine.
STERLIN FIREWATER - A young stallion starting to make a name
at Ruby and getting interest from ropers. Standing at Elwood Equine.
STREAKING TA FAME - He is a proven race winner and is starting to produce cow horses. Texoma Quarter Horses.
TAGGLINE - This young stallion is the full
brother to Hashtags and is drawing lots of attention. Standing at EE Ranches.
TFOUROVERDRIVINNFAME - Has the running genes and breakaway
credits, Four Taylor Ranch has him standing at Woods Farm.
THE DARKK SIDE - When you are purchased by a syndicate
and have a reputation even before you start to produce, this one gets plenty of
attention from headers and heelers alike. Standing at Solo Select.
THE METALLIC PATRON - Ranch horse specialist, cutting, cow
work, roping, heading, heeling, and NRCHA earnings. He stands at St Clair
Performance Horses.
THE REYL MCCOY - Scivally Ranch put both of their good
stallions in the program. This horse has cutting credits and lots of ranch
horse dollars.
THRIFT SHOP FABULOUS - By the million-dollar stallion, Frenchmans
Fabulous and out of n own daughter of First Down Dash, Only if the Check Clears.
This stallion owned by Fenton is standing at Horned F Ranch.
TRR SON D SEVEN - This is the second stallion on the
Scivally team and well known in the ranch horse world.
