The Passion for Phenomenal Horses: The DeLancey Story

Passion and love for quality horses in the DeLancey breeding program is obvious. Dave has been in the horse industry his entire life. Cindy married into the equine centric family. A graduate of University of Wyoming College of Law, Cindy, who is a lawyer by trade, currently serves as the President of the Wyoming Business Alliance and the Wyoming Heritage Foundation.

Horses and Corriente cattle run on the Rodeo Ranch, the family's 1,500-acre ranch in Platte County, Wyoming. The DeLancey's turnkey rodeo operation, Hell on Wheels Rodeo Company, LLC produce open rodeos around Wyoming, state fairs, and host private corporate team building events. In addition to the stallions, the DeLancey family also own a feed store, a liquor store, a newspaper (The WRANGLER Horse and Rodeo News), WY and AZ rental properties, and Cindy has a full-time job.

Dave and Cindy have 2 children: Beau and Raegen. Beau attends Central High School. Raegen attends the University of Wyoming on a rodeo scholarship and is studying Ag Communications. She runs barrels, competes in breakaway and team ropes.

"Raegen is an integral part of our business" said Cindy, "She announces, does the secretary work for ropings, and helps with books. Beau is more interested in cattle. He showed his first steer at Laramie County fair and won grand champion red angus. We love our time together, love investing in Wyoming and love being able to build business opportunities for our kids. We believe in promoting agriculture. People need to understand where their food comes from."

Cindy picks the crosses between broodmares and stallions. The DeLancey broodmare band includes both speed and cow horses. She believes in variety to find the right cross with the stallion.

The DeLanceys have two stallions enrolled in the Riata Buckle. Fiestas Dynasty is a maternal sibling to Epic Leader. He has speed, conformation, athleticism. Raised on the Jud Little Ranch and shown by JD, Fiestas Dynasty is an AQHA Reserve World Champion in the Heading. He is also a Top 10 finisher in the AQHA barrel congress. Fiestas Dynasty is the newest edition to the Rodeo Ranch and will stand to the public in 2023. Raegen is planning to ride him at the college rodeos this year.

Heza Fiery Fling's Bully Bullion bloodlines is a cross they were seeking when they purchased "Mick" as an unstarted 2-year-old in Kentucky. Mick's babies have brains, bone, and the frame of cow horse with the right dose of speed and quickness. He has been competing in roping events with Tate Kirchenschlager. He's a money earner, qualified for the AQHA Sr Team Roping Heading Short Go for 2021 with a Top 10 finish. He's out the $6.6 Million Dollar Sire, of A Streak of Fling." Christine DeRenzo rode him during his 5-year-old barrel futurity year.

The DeLancey's generally sell through private treaty. Cindy handles the colts on the ranch. They are all gentled, hauled, taught to tie, trailer and loved on. Dave and Raegen are the team ropers.

"Exponential changes can be seen on a daily basis, from foal to a 3-years-old" Cindy said, "We want our horses to go to a home that they've been prepared for."

Dave and Cindy are excited to be part of an incredible stallion program that thrives on quality and excellence.

"We are committed to the Riata Buckle program" Cindy said, "To have our stallions in such good company is a dream come true. To have offspring able to compete for life changing money is unbelievable. I really hope people take time to learn about benefits of the Riata Buckle. I hope they see what this program is and the value of the program. It's too good of an opportunity not to. We are excited for the future of the horses and babies in the Riata Buckle."
